Running & Other Adventures

Growing up, I played a multitude of sports, which culminated with becoming a Rugby College All-American. After a season ending injury, I decided to turn away from contact sports and focus on distance running. Endurance training in the beautiful terrain of the Pacific Northwest is one of my greatest joys.

Trail Running

Nothing makes me smile like exploring single track trails with friends. I love going for group runs with the Mountaineers, or participating in local races, like the Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series.

Ultramarathoning

Running my first ultramarathon, the 40-mile McCall Trail Running Classic, was a spur-of-the-moment decision that changed my life. Every ultramarathon effort is a journey of self discovery, intense preparation, and grit. Some favorite races include the Hamster Endurance Runs 24-hour race, the Twilight 12 Hour, and the Priest Lake 50k.

Downhill & Cross Country Skiing

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, skiing played an important part of every winter weekend. Watching Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall win gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics inspired me to learn Nordic skiing as well. You can find me hitting the slopes at Crystal Mountain, or enjoying peaceful skate skiing in the Methow Valley.

Hiking

As a runner and skier, it isn't always easy for me to slow down and enjoy the scenery. For that reason, I'm always appreciative of days when I go hiking with my partner, whose patience and strength as a backpacker never fail to amaze me,

Racing with Friends

Participating in local races with my medical school classmates in Spokane was one of my favorite parts of being a preclinical student. From the Spokane Marathon relay to the Leavenworth Marathon, I never met a more supportive group of runners.

Marathoning

Marathon training has been the backbone of my wellness routine since the end of my rugby career. After qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2018, I've been hooked on improving my performance from race to race. As of 2023, my PR is 3:07:08, achieved in October of 2022 at the Leavenworth Oktoberfest Marathon.
